Development of a New LC–MS/MS Method for Multiple Residues/Contaminants in Bovine Meat | Chapter 4 | Research Aspects in Biological Science Vol. 5

This study's goal was to create and validate an accurate LC-MS/MS technique for the detection of 49 veterinary medication residues and other pollutants in beef. For the purpose of identifying veterinary drug and pesticide residues, mycotoxins, and other contaminants in beef, a multi-class, multi-contaminant technique has been created and validated. The veterinary drug residues/contaminants included pesticides, lactones, -agonists, mycotoxins, anabolic hormones, and antimicrobials. Internal standards with isotopic labels were added to account for residual matrix effects. The procedure's calibration calibrators had an R2 greater than 0.98, indicating that they were linear. The detection capability (CC) range was from 0.083 to 2482.13 g/kg, while the decision limit (CC) values ranged from 0.067 to 2103.84 g/kg. The ranges for the limits of detection (LOD) and quantitation (LOQ) were 0.081 to 328.13 g/kg and 0.059 to 291.36 g/kg, respectively. The method was used to analyse actual samples of bovine meat in order to assess the method's applicability and efficacy. The method was applied in the routine analysis of bovine samples and revealed the presence of enrofloxacin, oxytetracycline, and sulfadiazine in a small number of samples at values of 35.22 g/kg, 27.35 g/kg, and 36.20 g/kg, respectively.
