In the current study, ascariasis in Ikotun Egbe, Lagos State, Nigeria is examined for its potential therapeutic benefits of a mixture of lime (Citrus aurantifolia) juice and ogogoro (local gin). Ascariasis, an infection of the small intestine, is brought on by Ascaris lumbricoides. This study's objective was to evaluate the anti-ascariasis efficacy of a mixture of lime (Citrus aurantifola) and ogogoro (local gin) juice as well as the impact of these juices on hepato-renal and inflammatory biomarkers. Worldwide, helminthes infections are most prevalent in tropical areas, and they are one of the leading causes of newborn and child mortality in underdeveloped nations. For this study, thirty primary school students from the experimental group—those whose stool samples revealed two or more Ascaris lumbricoides eggs following microscopic analysis at x40—and thirty from the control group—those whose stool samples revealed none—were chosen. Ten millilitres of the combination were given orally to each patient in the experimental group twice daily for five days. When their stool samples were reexamined microscopically using an x40 objective two weeks after the conclusion of this oral administration, it was discovered that there had been a significant decrease in the infection with Ascaris lumbricoides ova from 2+ to nil in 70% of the primary school students in the experimental group. This may indicate the medical effectiveness of this concoction against Ascaris lumbricoidesas. After that, each individual in the control and experimental groups had five millilitres of blood drawn and placed in bottles with lithium heparin anticoagulant, respectively. The samples were spun, and the resultant plasma was used to quantitatively evaluate hepato-renal and inflammatory biomarkers. When compared, there were no statistically significant differences (p>0.05). In conclusion, our research has shown that this mixture has medicinal potential for treating ascariasis, and its use is recommended.
