The study looks at how inhabitants of the towns of Tolosa and Dulag in Leyte Province were affected by Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and how social capital supported and hindered disaster recovery. A questionnaire was used to poll 201 male and female respondents to discover how they were able to use social capital to rebuild their lives, families, and communities. Some communities are more resilient than others when it comes to recovering after disasters, both physically and psychologically. According to the findings, some of the respondents' moderate happiness with their degree of recovery, such as having more permanent and secure housing and income, may be due to the community's poor social capital. Residents of Tolosa and the surrounding communities may rebuild their social capital by doing so. Residents of Tolosa and Dulag may be able to raise their satisfaction levels and improve their overall recovery and resilience by re-building their social capital.
