Case series of Dissociative Dysphonia at Interface of Paediatrics, ENT and Psychiatry Departments | Chapter 14 | New Horizons in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 11

This article describes two case series of dissociative dysphonias that occurred at the intersection of the paediatrics, ENT, and psychiatry departments. One example was a child who visited the paediatrics department and had dysphonia plica ventricularis and emotional dysregulation. Another instance who presented to the ENT department had dissociative dysphonia along with delusional illness.

Functional dysphonia, or dysphonia plica ventricularis (DPV), is one kind of FD that has several potential causes. Emotional crises, which is comparable to psychogenic/dissociative dysphonia, is considered as a secondary DPV-emotional type symptom. The instance of DPV that resulted from emotional dysregulation and an underlying emotionally unstable personality condition is described here. There have been discussions on crisis intervention and the importance of consistent treatment compliance.

In the general population, dissociative dysphonia is less prevalent. Prior research has mostly focused on how dysphonia interacts with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorders. Here, we'll talk about a rare instance of dissociative dysphonia and delusional condition. The difficulties with management and assessment are explored.
