This study shows parameter sensitivity maps of surface linear geoeletric arrays and how they might be used in practise. Geoelectric responses in the measurement plane (at the surface) caused by an elementary cube beneath the subsurface at three distinct depths are specified as metre sensitivity maps. Three component and total responses of electrical dipoles created on opposing cube surfaces are presented. These maps are provided for 14 distinct linear electrode arrays in this paper. An companion chapter on nonlinear and focused arrays follows this one. Parameter sensitivity maps are utilised to describe all known geoelectric arrays in these two chapters. With numerous examples, we illustrate how to apply them in the planning and interpretation of field measurements.
