Serdang Bedagai and Deli Serdang Regencies in the Snake River basin were the research area's irrigated rice fields. The integrated rice crop management (IRCM) approach includes a technology component called intermittent water management. A research was done to examine the extent to which farmers' attitudes toward technological components had changed. Since 2003, this research has been ongoing in Lubuk Bayas Village (Serdang Bedagai Regency), which was the first region where the ICRM programme was implemented in 2002. Furthermore, we did continuing study in various villages in the Perbaungan, Pantai Cermin, and Serbajadi Subdistricts (Serdang Bedagai Regency). Pagar Merbau, Beringin, and Tanjung Morawa/Lubuk Pakam sub-districts are also affected (Deli Serdang Regency). Observing and interacting with communities is the first step in gathering primary data (natural settings). The next step was to narrow down the sample to only pioneer farmers (innovators or early adopters). We also conducted secondary data analyses and a review of study findings. Farmers, while having a moderate degree of understanding, have not used intermittent irrigation technology since the early implementation of the ICRM programme in 2002. Farmers' attitudes were often not to attempt initially since they were having technical and socioeconomic obstacles. The lack of irrigation water and property ownership, as well as the area's relatively flat geography, despite appropriate irrigation facilities, were not favourable. Furthermore, they have an uncertain stance regarding other ecologically beneficial practises, such as the use of rice straw waste and manure as fertilisers (ecological approach). This attitude was shaped by the agricultural community's experience and culture, which included hard-to-change traditions.
