Determining the Effect of Volume Fraction of Dust on Magnetohydrodynamic Flow of a Fluid between Two Parallel Plates | Chapter 10 | Research Trends and Challenges in Physical Science Vol. 7

From an industrial aspect, the MHD movement of dusty fluids through channels is significant because molten metals are pushed through channels to shape them into various forms, and oil refineries require knowledge of such flows. The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of dust volume fraction on the flow of Magnetohydrodynamics between two parallel plates. In light of this, the motion of an incompressible dusty fluid with uniform particle distribution between two parallel plates under the effect of a uniform transverse magnetic field has been studied. Following the formulation of equations based on well-established theories, they were solved under the assumed conditions, and the effect of various flow issue parameters was analysed using graphs. As the magnetic field is increased, the velocities of fluid and dust particles are found to decrease.
