Determining the Template-Based Synthesis of Silica (SiO2-r) Rods and Its Corrosion Protection Performance | Chapter 5 | Newest Updates in Physical Science Research Vol. 10

The cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) was utilised as a cationic surfactant, and ferric chloride (FeCl3) was used as an oxidant / structure-directing agent to make silica (SiO2-r) rods. To provide greater corrosion protection on mild steel, the SiO2-r rods were integrated into the acrylic-based matrix. To examine the surface morphology and composition, tests such as particle size, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy were carried out. properties. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in a 3 percent NaCl solution was used to investigate corrosion prevention and coating durability. The addition of SiO2-r rods increased the acrylic coating matrix's corrosion resistance, according to the findings.
