Evaluation of Intertrochanteric Femur Fractures Treated with Trochanteric Fixation Nails in the Elderly | Chapter 11 | Current Innovations in Disease and Health Research Vol. 1

 This unit assess the working outcome of intertrochanteric fractures femur governed by trochanteric fixation fasten (TFN) in the elderly population. Intertrochanteric fractures are usually encountered for one orthopaedic surgeons especially in the elderly populace with osteoporotic cartilages.A retrospective study was carried out accompanying 40 patients (30 men and 10 females) of intertrochanteric fracture leg part that were managed accompanying TFN from September 2018 to May 2019 at Yashoda Superspeciality Hospital, Nehrunagar, Ghaziabad. The sample size was captured as per the availability of the patients and in accordance with the operating surgeon’s choice.The mean age of patients was 64 age. The mean duration of surgery was 48±10 brief time period. The Harris hip score was 96.90±4.60, that is better than scores from other implants used for intertrochanteric fractures leg part.TFN is more preferred for intertrochanteric break fixation since it demands less time immobilised, admits for early weight bearing, and has less complications.
