A biopsy is the removal of tissue from a living organism for the purposes of diagnosis and therapy. Appropriate training and good hand skills are required for a successful biopsy procedure. Different biopsy procedures exist, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. As a result, in order to achieve a definitive diagnosis, the dental practitioner must choose the appropriate biopsy procedure.
