Cutaneous Vasculitis in Rheumatoid Arthritis : A Case Induced by Different Biotherapy | Chapter 20 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 9

Rheumatoid arthritis has improved with the use of biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic medications (bDMARDs) (RA). Vasculitis of the skin is a symptom of RA. Furthermore, it has been described as a biotherapy's paradoxical impact. According to the BIOGEAS study group (a Study Group on Autoimmune Diseases of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine), Vasculitis has been observed in more than 140 instances with anti-TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) drugs, but only in two cases with Tocilizumab (TCZ). We present the first case of cutaneous vasculitis that developed while on both anti-TNF and TCZ medication.
