Biological Profile and Therapeutic Potentials of Cardiospermum halicacabum (Sapindaceae) | Chapter 5 | Current Aspects in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Vol. 6

The goal of this study was to find out more about Cardiospermum halicacabum's biological profile and therapeutic potential. The whole plant has been used to treat rheumatism, stiffness of limbs, and snakebites. Cardiospermum halicacabum is an annual or perennial herb that is often encountered in Sri Lanka. Gastrointestinal difficulties, respiratory disorders, and urinogenital infections have all been treated with Cardiospermum halicacabum. Beta-sitosterol, oxalic acid, and amino acids are all found in the leaves of Cardiospermum halicacabum. Saponin and quebrachitol have also been found in it. Erucic acid, oleic acid, eicosonic acid, octanoic acid, and n-hexadecanoic acid are all present in the plant's seed oil, as well as a high concentration of triterpenoids.
