Recent Advancement on Design and Implementation of Low Power Digital up Counter for Digital Beamforming | Chapter 2 | New Approaches in Engineering Research Vol. 6

Beamformers have been used in applications such as surveillance, RADAR, and communications for many years. This project is working on a high-speed, reconfigurable DUC module for digital beamforming. A digital up converter is a digital circuit that converts a complex digital base band signal to a genuine pass band signal (DUC). A DUC consists of a mixer, a direct digital synthesiser, and a cascaded set of interpolation finite impulse response (FIR) filters. These filters were developed using MATLAB and Verilog code. Model Sim is utilised for simulation, Xilinx ISE is used for functional verification, and the Virtex-5 Pro is used for FPGA implementation.
