Background: The current study focuses on the link between symptomatic fibroids patients and illnesses such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, polyp, endometrial hyperplasia, and carcinoma. The goal was to see how useful endometrial biopsy was before surgery.
The goal of this study was to see if there
was a link between symptomatic uterine fibroids and other uterine pathologies
such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial
cancer, and endometrial/cervical polyps. To see how useful endometrial biopsy
is before performing operational treatment like hysterectomy or myomectomy.
Methods: Women who underwent fibroid surgery or who had recently been diagnosed
with fibroid were studied in an observational cohort study. There were a total
of 150 women in attendance. To establish if there was a link between uterine
pathology and fibroid, researchers looked at the histopathology reports of
individuals who had already been operated on. Patients with leiomyoma had
biopsy and reports analysed for the association, and ultrasonography findings
were documented in prospective cases. To establish a relationship between a
qualitative variable and a quantitative variable, a Chi-square test was used,
with a p-value of 0.05 considered significant.
Out of 150 people, 24.6 percent had adenomyosis, 14% had endometrial
hyperplasia (2 percent with atypia and 12 percent without), 8.6% had a cervical
polyp, 5.33 percent had an endometrial polyp, 4% had endometriosis, and 42.7
percent had no relationship.
