Fail-Safe and Safe-Life Concepts Effects on the Safety Factor in Mechanical Design | Chapter 1 | Current Approaches in Science and Technology Research Vol. 10

The impacts of the Safety Factor on Fail-Safe and Safe-Life concepts are investigated in this chapter. Although the research focuses on mechanical design, the same concepts could be applied to other scientific domains. The concept of putting components in series or parallel is deepened, and fault tree analysis is considered. The topic progresses through the notions of reliability, safety, and unpredictability.
