Behavior of MHD Waves in Plasma in Gravitational Field| Chapter 2 | Current Approaches in Science and Technology Research Vol. 13

We analyse plasma waves using magnetohydrodynamic equations (MHD). The dispersion equation and reflection coefficient for MHD waves are calculated using this magnetohydrodynamic model for isothermal, gravitationally stratified plasma in a horizontal inhomogeneous magnetic field. Alfven's and sound's speeds are both constant. This method can be used to find analytical solutions for linearized perturbations. The Alfven mode, as well as the fast and slow magnetoacoustic modes, are displayed. These modes are affected by gravity. In a nonmagnetized condition, the dispersion equation characterises gravito-acoustic waves.
