A Case Report on Frenectomy by Millers Technique | Chapter 15 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 6

Background: An atypical labial frenum causes diastema and gingival recession, jeopardising the patient's cosmetic and functional needs. Archer's conventional frenectomy approach is a lengthy treatment that results in unsightly scarring of the tissue and the loss of the interdental papilla. Miller devised a novel approach that merged the frencetomy technique with a laterally displaced flap to solve these disadvantages. The fundamental benefit of this approach is that it heals the tissue with primary goal rather than scarring it. As a result, the purpose of this study is to see if Frenectomy using the millers approach overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional technique.

Materials and Procedures: Miller's approach was used to choose a 23-year-old male patient with an aberrant frenum for frenectomy.

Conclusion: The fundamental benefits of this approach are primary intention healing, the absence of scarring, and the creation of a thick zone of adherent gingiva. In our circumstance, we were able to do the above.
