Non-revenue water (NRW) is common in cities in developing countries, necessitating immediate action. Under World Bank support, a study was done in sections of Hubli-Dharwad, India, to examine NRW in one of the intermittent water service (IWS) pilot areas and a recently constructed continuous water service (CWS) demonstration zone. The goal of the study is to evaluate NRW and find ways to improve service levels. The assessment of NRW in the IWS and CWS areas of Hubli, South India, is detailed in this paper book chapter. The NRW in IWS can reach 37 percent, while it is only about 15 percent in CWS, according to the study. The findings of this research will be useful in scaling up existing intermittent water service and CWS projects in India and other developing countries.
