Study on the Effects of Non Surgical Periodontal Therapy on Salivary pH: A Randomized Clinical Approach | Chapter 8 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 15

The study's goal is to see how nonsurgical periodontal disease affects salivary pH in individuals who come to the dental hospital.

The study's goal is to evaluate the effects of periodontal diseases and non-surgical treatments.

Salivary pH and Periodontol Therapy In addition, the authors are attempting to determine the impact of dental visit frequency on periodontal disease status.

Materials and Procedures: The study included patients who reported to the Department of Periodontology at the Dental Hospital in Greater Noida.

Patients are divided into two groups: Chronic Generalized Gingivitis and Chronic Generalized Periodontitis in this randomised clinical trial.

30 patients were included in the study.

The duration of the study is two months.

The NSPT is performed and clinical data are documented. Unstimulated saliva was collected before and after non-surgical periodontal therapy (14 days). A pH metre is used to determine the pH. Data is gathered and analysed quantitatively.

The following statistical testing will be used:

- Chi-square test - Mann Whitney U test

- A paired t-test was used.

The plaque index, gingival index, and oral hygiene index in the two groups differed statistically significantly. Although there was a clear fall in pH levels after SRP, the difference was statistically insignificant due to the limited sample number. To back up the findings, more research is needed.
