Treatment of distal femoral fractures has always been difficult, whether with or without comminution or intra-articular extension. Hardware failure is a problem among the elderly, particularly among those who have osteoporosis. This prospective study looks at the functional prognosis of 22 patients who were treated with locking compression condylar plates. The OTA classification system was chosen as the basis for the project. Neers' functional scoring system was used to conduct the functional outcome analysis. The average time it took to reach a sound union in the 22 cases was 16 weeks (14 to 20weeks). In carefully selected cases, locking compression condylar plates provide firm fixation, resulting in sound union and consistently satisfactory functional knee movement.
