At present, the ever-changing society demands require
constant adaptation of educational systems to equip graduates not only with
specialized competences, but also with high level of general knowledge,
analytical thinking and creativity. With the growing amount of information
available in the English language, it becomes necessary to develop practical
skills in using it for professional communication. Taking into account the
strict time limits set for undergraduate courses, integrating the study of
English with students’ academic majors becomes an apparent way to a more
compact material presentation and practicing. This text gives a description and
detailed results analysis of experimental teaching of English to students of
applied mathematics based on authentic YouTube video lectures in mathematics,
which can make the basis for developing well-thought-out CLIL courses at the
tertiary level.
