Proposed Model of Case-Based Learning for Training Undergraduate Medical Students in Surgery | Chapter 3 | Research Developments in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 6

Background: Systematic surveys of sophomore medical instruction have cautiously supported the consequences of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) compared accompanying traditional learning. This item provides a detracting overview of PBL, its disadvantages in the developing country synopsis and our proposed model of PBL started by Real cases, to address these limitations.Aim: Our hypothesis search out see either the proposed CBL model would work in the Indian arrangement in comparison accompanying traditional education. Methods: We Followed a modified Barrow's Model. A tutor selected a absolute case and created a question scenario which was to a greater extent disclosed to graduates, and learning issues were raised. In gathering 2 students bestowed self-studied education issues. The process was evaluated throughout accompanying feedback from graduates and faculty. Results: We were successful in constituting CBL. Study group (n=57) students achieve better in SAQ(( short Answer question) and EMQ((lengthened matching question)) assessment, (Mean study 21.15+/4.0565, control 18.5357+/3.8632 , n=56, p advantage 0.01.) Students appreciated it as a good knowledge activity.Statistical Design: SAQ and EMQ, are compared in study vs. control groups by single ‘t’ test & also by equivalent non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. Conclusion: The preparation of doctors is too important an project for bold experiments expected conducted outside discovering what really occurs. We had success in beginning Case-based learning accompanying faculty of principal part departments aiding in the project as Resources. Although the size of the sample is small, CBL is raise to be an active modality of imparting healing education accompanying effective integration of all areas.
