Heterotopic Pancreas: Overview and a Case Report | Chapter 15 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 14

The presence of pancreatic tissue at an abnormal place with no anatomic, vascular, or neurological continuity with the main body of the pancreas is known as heterotopic pancreas (HP). The majority of HP is found in the upper gastrointestinal tract. The majority of patients have no symptoms. In symptomatic patients, epigastric discomfort is the most common symptom. It's unusual to be diagnosed and then discover it during surgery. EUS is a useful tool for examining the structure of submucosal lesions such as HP. Patients with no symptoms should be monitored, while those with symptoms should have their HP removed. We have a female patient who has been suffering from chronic abdominal epigastric pain. A submucosal mass was discovered during the investigation and was diagnosed as an HP. She had sludge in her gallbladder as well. We combined local resection and cholecystectomy in one treatment to remove HP completely from the stomach with clear margins. Our patient had made a complete recovery.

The following are the objectives: -Overview of Heterotopic Pancreas (HP).

-Research a gastrointestinal case of pancreatic heterotopia mass.
