Using Stochastic Techniques to Detect Breast Cancer in Infrared Thermographies | Chapter 9 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 7

The use of stochastic methods and fuzzy logic control to forecast the presence of a thermal anomaly in breasts using thermographic infrared pictures is proposed. To analyse symmetry grade between the right and left breast, statistical findings are established using entropy, kurtosis, and media. A fuzzy controller is built based on symmetric assessments distribution to estimate the grade of breast cancer connected with the tissue and make a choice. The proposed solution is implemented on an FPGA platform, which reduces hardware requirements while increasing response time. The results demonstrate that if the image source is far away from the critical faults, interference to the source, or infrared image processing, the error of the prediction method can be used as an alternative to identify cancer.
