Endoscopic Management of Upper GI Bleed: A Review | Chapter 10 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 8

Upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage is a frequent condition that affects people all over the world, with an estimated yearly incidence of 40-150 cases per 100,000 people. Several risk stratification scores have been established to improve clinical decision-making for urgent intervention and triage patients to in-hospital vs. out-of-hospital care. Glasgow Blatchford Score (GBS) and Rockwall Score were the two most generally validated scores. Patients who had endoscopy after 24 hours had a higher mortality rate, according to a retrospective examination of almost 400 000 patients with NVUGIB. Cyanoacrylate (CYA) Spray is a spray treatment that can be used as an alternative to surgery for excessive GI bleeding in emergency situations.
