This is a review article to determine whether fluctuating estrogen levels during the menstrual cycle affect female muscle performance. Hormonal fluctuations during a woman's menstrual cycle, in addition to affecting the reproductive system, also affect the physiological and psychological components of the body, which has an impact on her day-to-day performance. The presence of estrogen receptors (ER) has been discovered in skeletal muscle, ligaments, tendons, and smooth muscle. Estrogen has been shown to have a significant influence on muscle membrane stability, potentially reducing post-exercise muscle damage and soreness.
