The right location and sizing of distributed generation is required to prevent power loss and improve the voltage profile of the power system. Two common distributed generation methods are solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy. In this chapter, the authors describe a unique multi-objective pareto-based technique for analysing the best placement and scaling of solar PV and wind production systems in a radial distribution system. A 33-bus distribution system will be used to test the constructed algorithm. The ideal position is found by establishing a DG source at each bus and satisfying the objective function. The maximum amount of solar PV and wind DG power injections for the distribution system studied has been identified, taking into account system limits, beyond which pumping electricity to the grid is technically and economically beneficial. The Jaya method is used to determine the best size for PV and wind systems. The system was also tested by first installing the solar PV and wind generation systems individually, then combining them. Three-dimensional charts are used to tabulate and visualise the data.
