The Fertility Awareness Method and Managing Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI), an Advanced Study | Chapter 7 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 5

Background: Unmet reproductive health needs of women: 1. Hormone-free contraception options are limited. 2. Fertility awareness is the safest method of birth control, but it is rarely used. 3. Women suffer from stress incontinence in silence. Provide women with a single device that can be used for contraception, fertility awareness, and stress urinary incontinence. Materials and Procedures: The FemCap is an FDA-approved contraceptive device that can meet three of a woman's basic reproductive health needs: 1. The FemCap is a barrier contraceptive device that is safe, effective, and time-tested. 2. Collect the fertile cervical mucus directly at the cervix with the FemCap, without mixing in any other vaginal fluid. 3. Pessaries have significant limitations such as displacement, erosion, or ulceration, as well as urethral obstruction. The FemCap is strikingly similar to the ring pessary. The FemCap function's rim is similar to the ring pessary in that it supports the bladder neck. The FemCap's outward flaring brim restores the anatomy of the urethra and vagina. The FemCap's bowl prevents the cervix from descending, providing additional support. The FemCap is a well-proven barrier contraceptive device. FemCap has been shown in pilot studies to improve fertility awareness methods and control stress incontinence. Conclusion: A multi-function contraception, fertility awareness, and stress urinary incontinence device would save women time and money while improving their quality of life.
