It can be difficult to remove a segmentally fractured (three part) interlocking femoral nail with a broken interlocking screw. To treat the delayed union with exchange nailing, we present a unique approach for extracting a rare two-level fractured cannulated anterograde femoral nail.
The fractured hardware was removed without accessing the facture site or the knee in this case of a three-part broken intramedullary interlocking nail with broken distal locking screws. This method is straightforward and does not necessitate the use of specialised equipment. For mending the fracture and achieving the union, we employed a larger diameter and longer nail. The surgical technique is described, as well as a review of the literature.Author(S) Details
