Determination of Mindfulness, Death Anxiety, and Grief in a Patient with Metastatic Cancer | Chapter 6 | Recent Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 9

The goal of this research was to see how successful a modified mindfulness intervention was at reducing death anxiety, loss, and grief symptoms in cancer patients. While there is a lot of research on the advantages of mindfulness-based interventions for cancer patients, there are few mindfulness interventions for death and dying issues like death anxiety, grief, and loss. This is a case report of a modified mindfulness intervention for a hospitalised female patient with metastatic, quickly progressing breast cancer that was requested as an urgent request. During the seven-week intervention, scores for death anxiety, loss, and mourning symptoms were obtained. Death anxiety improved in both objective and subjective ratings, although data on loss and mourning components were mixed.
