As obesity has become a leading cause of a variety of comorbidities, the number of patients undergoing bariatric surgery grows year after year. The number of complications associated with this procedure is on the rise. We present the case of a 32-year-old man who developed ataxia and peripheral polyneuropathy after undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy, then developed progressive weakness in his extremities within 8 months of surgery and was admitted to the hospital for neurological consultation and care. This unusual neurological complication could have resulted from rapid weight loss and a vitamin deficiency. The case report focuses on the symptoms that bariatric surgeons should look for and how they can be treated.
