Parental Alienation is a serious mental illness that all professionals who work with children, adolescents, and adults should be aware of. Parental Alienation is most common in high-conflict separation and divorce, but it can occur in other situations as well. Two case studies are presented in this article. The first case example depicts parental alienation in a high conflict divorce situation, while the second depicts institutionally induced parental alienation as a result of false accusations of child sexual abuse by a mentally ill neighbor. Despite the existence of over a thousand professional articles, book chapters, and books, as well as empirical studies from all over the world (see website https://ckm. vumc.org/pasg), there is still a lack of awareness of Parental Alienation in professional practice. Parental Alienation is a child protection issue, and child welfare authorities and courts must take appropriate action.
