Introduction: Over the last few decades, the Kampala Cancer Registry in Uganda has observed a continuous increase in the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC). The author describes a 25-year-old man who presented with intestinal obstruction and was later diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma of the colon. The clinical and pathological characteristics of young age sporadic colorectal cancer (YSCC) and hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal carcinoma are then reviewed in the literature (HNPCC).
Case Presentation: This patient had a family history of colorectal cancer (CRC) and was experiencing intestinal blockage. A right hemicolectomy was performed as part of an emergency laparotomy. This patient's surgical recovery was unremarkable.
On the resected colon material, the typical histological characteristics of mucinous adenocarcinoma of the colon were visible. In addition, this research looks at the clinical presentation, pathological features, histology, and prognosis of mucinous and medullary colon cancer.Conclusions: In young people, mucinous adenocarcinoma is the most prevalent histological form of colorectal carcinoma. Colorectal lesions should be tested for in Uganda's low-risk young patients with symptoms. In these patients, a high index of suspicion should be used in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer.
