Beetles have a substantial economic impact for two reasons. When there are a lot of them, plant feeders become a pest of farm crops and forest trees. Predatory species, on the other hand, play an important role in man's efforts to manage plant-feeding pests. Pests are animals whose populations have grown to the point that they are causing economic losses to crops or posing a nuisance and health risk to humans and cattle. The fruits of Momordica dioica Roxb (wild bitter gourd) are less bitter than those of Momordica charantia L. (bitter gourd). It has therapeutic qualities as well. It's a weedy annual plant with a poor germination rate. It produces less than bitter guard but has a greater market value. Epilachna larvae (grubs) and adults have been seen attacking the wild bitter gourd Momordica dioica. According to recent studies, it is a pest of both cucurbitaceous and Momordica dioica hosts. Defoliation and stunted growth occur as a result, leading in a decreased yield.
