A Review on Osmium: Beneficiation Opportunities | Chapter 7 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 14

From a chemistry and materials standpoint, this paper summarises the safe manufacturing of osmium and its compounds, as well as their utility. One of the platinum group metals is osmium (Os). According to the existing data, osmium (II) compounds have a lot of potential for traffic signalling as molecular signal gates employing electrochemically generated electricity. Biomedical applications of osmium (II) compounds in the development of anti-cancer medicines are also possible. Organic osmium compounds have also been shown to have strong electrochemical characteristics, making them suitable for redox flow batteries. This examination of osmium and its compounds reveals a number of related qualities that have the potential to drive up demand for osmium in a variety of applications. The findings demonstrated that Os compounds have exceptional electrochemical characteristics, establishing them as "smart complexes."
