Learning from Death: Health Education Considerations for Medical Tourists, Caregiving Companions, and Medical Tourism Providers | Chapter 13 | Novel Research Aspects in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 9

Medical touristry is a process in which a consumer travels from one’s fitness jurisdiction to receive biomedical situations or services, so becoming a patient. This chapter survey how global television frame cases of patient death associated with the healing tourism (MT) process between 2009-2019. A subjective content analysis of 50 patient death cases found that (1) a majority of radio representations of medical touristry patient death are of middle-class, youth females between 25-55 age of age pursuing cosmetic surgery internationally; (2) unexplained death, grief, and bereavement confabing is noticeably absent from healing tourism providers (MTPs); and (3) the acknowledgement of medical risks from expert figures within the radio reports is often vague and abstract. Recommendations and concerns for future medical tourists, their caregiving friends and medical tourism providers are presented.
