Exploring Attitudes towards Code-Switching Among Arabs in Israel | Chapter 3 | Progress in Language, Literature and Education Research Vol. 1

 This research investigates by virtue of what Arabs in Israel feel about the prevalent use of Code-Switching (CS) and their style preferences when corresponding with various individuals. As a speaker concerning this dialect myself, I am informed about latest trends the need to study this phenomenon from the talker’s perspective because it is a heated debate in my humankind whether to prevent codeswitching or deal with it as a sane language contact wonder. This debate is perceived from different views by Arabs in Israel.Thus, to study and understand this debate better, a survey incorporating three sections was likely to 131 bilingual participants, holding 47 males and 84 women from various towns in the northward, Galilee, and the Triangle areas, grazing in age from 18 to 60 years. The composed data was analyzed, taking everything in mind the age and gender of the accused. The study uncovered few intriguing judgments. The participants mainly expressed negative views toward the use of CS; however, they acknowledged the importance of Hebrew in their daily lives. There were again differences in attitudes towards CS custom based on age and masculine. Moreover, the survey indicated that CS is usually employed when communicating with companions and acquaintances, but less repeatedly when communicating accompanying strangers.
