Cheiloscopy: An Important Tool in Forensic Dentistry | Chapter 1 | Novel Research Aspects in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 1

 The term “Cheiloscopy” is came from Greek term where in “Cheilo” method lip and “Scopy” means to try. The phenomenal schemes of furrows on lips were first eminent by anthropologist R. Fischer in 1902. However, the uniqueness of the lip furrows were first noticed by two Japanese scientists Y Tsuchihashi and T. Suzuki later examining insolences of 1364 persons in 1968-1971. Cheiloscopic examination has arose as a promising finish in forensic dentistry. This member reviews the various aspects of Cheiloscopy in the way that its experiences, classification, edge print recording, demerits of lip prints and request of cheiloscopy in forensics etc. Human identification is a fault-finding requirement in legal science. It is required for passing certification and for private, legal, public, and humanitarian reasons. The primary means of labeling in forensic cure include fingerprints, DNA corresponding, and dental traits. Many times, one or all of these designs may not be completely effective or definite in establishing identity, particularly in cases of burns, aircraft accidents etc.Extensive information still is lacking in the subject and should be high lightened, because important evidences are in existence, and the identification of a sufferer and /or a criminal does not remain unnoticed.
