A Case of Patent Urachus Masquerading as Chronic Umbilical Abscess | Chapter 3 | New Advances in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 3

 We report a case of urachal cavity presenting as recurrent main abscess in a male the one presented with afflictions of umbilical mass accompanying pus discharge. Umbilicus is potentially a feeble part in the anterior intestinal wall. Embryologically it represents narrow connector of the bottle which resides of umbilical bowls, structures related to digestive and urinary arrangement. A 30 years young male with sane secondary sexual types came to the person being treated for medical problem department with the afflictions of pus discharge, swelling familiar umbilicus. He underwent clinical and radiological evaluations. While a localised accumulation was detected by ultrasound nearly the umbilicus, a communication was detected by CT scan in a stringy strand-like structure that lengthened from the umbilicus to the bladder by about 10 cm.An open investigation was done under regional induced absence of feeling and 20 ml of abscess drained accompanying excision of tract by ligating familiar the bladder end and basic closure was done. Without some recurrence, the postoperative ending went without incident. Adults must have a extreme index of suspicion when it meets expectations urachal anomalies in order to act fast and achieve better results with lower depression. Atypical presentations of urachal anamolies commonly lead to incorrect diagnoses. Its judgment in adults is a difficult task on account of the absence of typical dispassionate and radiological findings in addition to clear-cut guidelines.
