Current Situation and Trend of Echlon Utilization of Retired New Energy Vehicles Batteries in China | Chapter 8 | Research Highlights in Science and Technology Vol. 4

With the general use of some new energy jeeps(NEVs) in China gradually dropping into disuse, the echelon exercise of retired NEV batteries has been widely worried, the number of participating enterprises have surpassed 40, and the built result capacity exceeding 30GWh/ period (about 270,000 tons/year). However, due to the restricted number of retired batteries for current vehicles, the exercise rate of enterprise echlon exercise capacity is less than 12%, accordingly most enterprises are compatible accompanying using new batteries for production to develop capacity exercise. In 2019, 13,000 tons of used batteries were recycled and echlon utilizatized, and 809MWh (about 9,700 tons) of echlon exercise products were produced. Among ruling class, about 50% of the echelon exercise products are used engaged of base station power supply, 30% engaged of energy storage, 16% engaged of low-speed capacity and 4% in consumer electronic output. In summary, China’s retired NEV batteries echlon utilization manufacturing has developed rapidly in current years, and has made a certain scale of production volume, and actively explored many request fields such as base station capacity backup, strength storage and low-speed capacity. The industry has entered the beginning stage of commercial movement.
