In order to develop photocatalysis for real-world use, it is essential to comprehend the biological colour mechanism, defect-triggered accelerated deterioration, and visible-light-induced self-sensitization reaction. Here, we found that naphthylamines and related spiroacridines underwent an auto-catalyzed transition under visible light. By directly exposing plants to sunlight, a series of spiro[fluorene-9,7′-dibenzo[c,h]acridine]-5′-one (SFDBAO) derivatives have been efficiently and cleanly produced in higher quantities than when utilising a UV lamp. To explain the efficient photooxygenation, a fascinating auto-catalyzed and self-sensitive technique has been presented. The photooxygenation reaction must occur under conditions that include exposure to air and sunshine in order to produce high-yield products. With potential red light-emitting and photovoltaic capabilities, SFDBAO derivatives show continuous -stacking motifs in single crystals and electron-withdraw properties.
