Intergovernmental Coordination without the Big Polluters: A Recent Study | Chapter 2 | Research Aspects in Arts and Social Studies Vol. 2

Expectations shape international relations. The major polluters only acknowledge the existence of global warming as long as they anticipate few significant changes in the near future. New DNA research indicates that modern homo sapiens have existed for more than 100,000 years. And this race has grown to an astonishing 8 billion individuals, ruling over all other species and subjugating the other human races. The wonderful tale of the Cro-Magnons may come to an end in the twenty-first century because Earth may no longer support advanced forms of life, i.e. low temperature, food availability, access to drinking water, and the absence of violence between or within states and even civilisations. The only way to decrease the pace of climate change is through intergovernmental cooperation, but this is impossible given the nature of international relations. The energy intensity has shown obvious changes, the additional energy required for COVID-19 combat is not inconsequential in terms of stabilising energy demand, and the energy recovery in various places shows notable variations. Allocating resources and identifying new prospects in the energy sector for the post-pandemic period have been significant issues.
