The Relative Flow Technique (RFT) is used to quantify the absolute partial and total electron ionisation cross sections for the DNA nucleotide cytosine up to 500 eV. It is difficult to experimentally measure all the necessary electrical interaction cross-sections for all key materials, hence it is essential to have predictive models that are sufficiently accurate but simple to use.
