Nanocomposite Polymer Electrolyte Films for Electrochemical Device Applications | Chapter 1 | New Frontiers in Physical Science Research Vol. 2

The solution cast approach was used to create solid polymer electrolyte film samples of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC)/poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) blends embedded with 1%–4% (wt.%) of copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles. At room temperature, an LCR metre (ZM2376) was used to measure the AC conductivity of the produced samples in the frequency range of 50 Hz to 1 MHz. For the plots of AC conductivity in the high frequency band, Jonscher's power law is valid. DC conductivity is calculated using the plateau region of ac conductivity graphs. The predicted conductivity value based on bulk resistance is found to be compatible with the acquired dc conductivity values. It may be inferred from looking at the complex electrical modulus that the specified polymer electrolytes show non-debye type conductivity relaxation.
