South Africa’s Correctional System Security Dynamics | Chapter 10 | Research Aspects in Arts and Social Studies Vol. 2

 One essential component of the core business and a key success element for correctional systems worldwide is security within prisons. This critical article covered the dynamics of prison security in South Africa. An understanding of security dynamics, including but not limited to the functions of custody, searching as a security function, methods of searching, inmates' control procedures, the treatment function of custody, and the use of force in prisons, is argued to be necessary for an effective correctional system.
