SmartLVGrid Platform - Convergence of Legacy Low-Voltage Circuits toward Smart Grid Paradigm | Chapter 2 | New Insights into Physical Science Vol. 13

The current electrical infrastructure is in the process of transitioning to a new technology paradigm known as the Smart Grid, and this process would be much easier if the transition systems are better suited to the available technical and financial resources. We present a strategy for converting the conventional power distribution grid to a smart grid model by retrofitting the legacy circuits that make up the grid in this article. Our findings show that implementing such a process, which is provided via a distributed system framework with integrated technical resources added on top of legacy infrastructure, transforms these passive grids into intelligent circuits capable of supporting the implementation of a broad range of smart grid functionalities.
