A Recent Study on Integrated Management of Wilt Complex Disease in Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)| Chapter 10 | Cutting-edge Research in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 6

 The impact of various disease management tools on bell pepper seedling emergence, wilt occurrence, and yield (Capsicum annuum L.) California (various) Under both glass house and field environments, Wonder was studied as part of integrated management strategies. Wilt disease, which is caused by a variety of pathogens, is a debilitating soil-borne disease that is difficult to control. Fusarium spp., Phytophthora capsici, and Rhizoctonia solani have all been found to cause the disease. Under in-vitro conditions, different fungicides were screened against the four wilt pathogens Fusarium oxysporum, Phytopthora capsici, Rhizoctonia solani, and Sclerotium rolfsii. The fungicides Captan, Carbendazim, Metalaxyl, and Carboxin, which were found to be effective in vitro, were then tested individually and in combination in a glass house environment. Controlling wilt incidence disease with seed treatment followed by seedling treatment with fungicides proved ineffective. Wilt incidence was greatly reduced when fungicides were sprayed at the crown region of the plant, in addition to seed treatment and seedling treatment. Under field conditions, seed treatment plus seedling treatment plus Carbendazim + Metalaxyl spraying proved to be the most successful, with a disease reduction of 59.8% over the control. Captan + Metalaxyl in conjunction with Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma virens outperformed their individual treatments.
