The Need for Elderly and Caregivers Perspective in the Model for Fall Prevention Strategies: The Malaysian Context | Chapter 6 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 4

Falls are a public health concern for the elderly because they cause morbidity and mortality. Despite the growing body of evidence in the prevention of falls in the elderly, most approaches were formulated from the perspective of health care professionals, with the majority of interventions focusing on physiological risk factors. Just a few studies have looked at the experiences of older people and their caregivers in order to better understand slides and how to avoid them. It's vital to consider how older people and their caregivers view the occurrence of falls, as well as the risk factors and how they can avoid falls, so that they can put fall prevention techniques into effect. The new research on fall prevention methods and the model of treatment for older people at risk of falling are briefly discussed in this report. Following that, the article described gaps in previous research and proposed a conceptual and theoretical model to direct future research.
