In contrast to the pace of urbanisation, the generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) is rising rapidly. The growing population, burgeoning rate of waste generation, limited availability of land, and scarcity of waste disposal sites make household waste management a difficult challenge for Bahrain's policymakers, urban planners, and municipalities. Public knowledge is a vital enabler for any sustainable waste management plan in the country to succeed. The survey sought to determine public awareness of household waste management in Muharraq Governorate, as well as any associations between educational level, gender, occupation, age, and area of residence, as well as the three components of public awareness: information, attitude, and actions of Muharraq residents. The findings revealed that total knowledge varies greatly depending on age and nationality. Furthermore, it demonstrates that people in Muharraq Governorate have a high degree of public knowledge about household waste management, suggesting that the community is conscious and has the foundations to build on in terms of sustainable waste management practises and technologies adoption. which can aid in overcoming the potential social barrier posed by a lack of public awareness. To prepare society for more advanced technology, the government was strongly advised to prioritise the principles of minimise, reuse, and recycle (3Rs).
