Research on Experimental Behaviour of Water Hyacinth Ash as Partial Replacement of Cement on Short Column | Chapter 14 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 3

The current research looked into short column concrete under axial loading with water hyacinth ash as a cement replacement (WHA). For M30, different proportions of cement replacement by 0 percent and 10% of the cement weight can be investigated to see how strong the column is. When WHA is added to concrete, it slows down the setting time and reduces the potency of the concrete. A total of five columns were tested, including two traditional RCC columns and three RCC columns with 10% replacement. According to the results of the experiment, the optimum percentage of WHA addition to the concrete was found to be 10% of the total cement weight. WHA is used as a cement replacement in concrete, according to the findings. The compressive strength and split tensile strength of cement decrease as WHA replacement increases.
